We are a bilingual parents’ initiative day care centre situated in Augsburg’s Textilviertel, with six English/German speaking Groups for children from 1 to 10 years of age.
Since the founding of our establishment in 2004, we are very passionate about the bilingual education of our children, starting with our one year old babies in the nursery, through to the school children in the after-school club. The focus of our work, are the children. They should feel comfortable, safe and have enough space and ability to develop individually. In addition to the bilingualism, we follow a holistic educational approach, where the intercultural exchange and the acquisition of social capabilities are just as important, as the excitement and joy of discovering new things.
Our day care centre is primarily directed at children being raised in bilingual and in monolingual environments, in which the experience of learning another language early in life is valued. As a parents’ initiative, our establishment requires framework participation and particularly appeals to parents wishing to be actively involved in their children’s and the day care centres’ development.
We would like to give you as much insight about our concept and us as a team, as possible, which is why we would like to invite you to explore the following pages and get a more in depth picture of what we, at IKA-Internationales Kinderhaus, are all about.
